“After finishing my studies at the Radical Cut-Up department of Sandberg, I was invited to show my graduation work Beautiful Impact in the group show Endless Life at Buitenplaats Doornburgh in Maarssen. Shortly after, I took part in the exhibition Eyes on Robert at Melkweg Expo in Amsterdam, where I showed new works based on the oeuvre of Robert Mapplethorpe. What followed was a period in which I took the time to focus on finishing the music for my debut EP. The release date of which is set in July. With my music, I have supported artists like Bea1991, Lauren Auder and Le1f and I recently performed live at Musée du Louvre in Paris. Currently, I’m working on creating new works for the permanent collection of Museum van Bommel van Dam in Venlo.”

!["To me, the most beautiful aspect of Mapplethorpe's work is the sensitivity it captures. With these works, I sought to explore a range of emotions that often feels absent in the portrayal of men. I wondered why so many considered Mapplethorpe’s work to be obscene. Perhaps not because of its homoerotic explicitness but instead due to its revelation of emotional capacity, embodied by men."](https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/78e3e983e5b3c484b980d7c223b4f456250e11f1a87c892e0aaf82a6e023635f/the-kiss-by-daan-couzijn.jpg)
